海口骑楼老街依托历史城区发展而成，现存六百余栋骑楼集中分布于十二条街道，是海口最具代表性的历史文化街区之一。

十九世纪中叶，南洋归来的琼侨事业有成后将骑楼建筑理念带回故乡，底层架空的廊柱撑起长长的檐廊，无论烈日或风雨，行人皆可从容穿行；楼上雕花的窗棂、彩绘的灰塑与海南本土的祈福纹样、传统工艺相互碰撞，形成了独特的风貌。
In the mid-19th century, overseas Hainanese returning from Southeast Asia brought home new architectural influences, blending them with local traditions. The elegant colonnades provide shade from the tropical sun and shelter from the rain, while intricately carved windows, colorful decorative plasterwork, and local motifs give each building its distinctive character.
