此前爆料国足会参加东南亚杯的博主theaseanfootball称，中国队不会参加今年9月的东南亚杯了。
该博主表示，国足新的计划是和乌兹别克斯坦、朝鲜、塔吉克斯坦、巴勒斯坦交手，备战亚洲杯和未来的世预赛。
目前，FIFA在邀请其他球队取代国足的位置。
