中国地震台网正式测定：7月9日7时44分在四川宜宾市高县（北纬28.51度，东经104.68度）发生4.8级地震，震源深度6千米。
此前，7月8日凌晨至上午，四川宜宾高县接连发生9次地震，其中6时12分、10时08分各出现一次5.0级地震，震源深度5至8千米。多条铁路、高速沿线震感明显。当地迅速启动三级地震应急响应，多部门同步开展隐患排查、群众转移安置等工作。
