新华社东京6月16日电（记者梁晨 刘洁秋）据日本气象厅消息，日本关东地区茨城县南部16日发生5.5级地震。东京有较强震感。
日本气象厅说，地震发生于当地时间16日19时46分（北京时间18时46分）左右，震中位于北纬36.1度、东经139.9度，震源深度约50千米，震级为5.5级，但目前无需担心发生海啸等灾害。
另据日本共同社报道，地震导致东北新干线和上越新干线暂停运行。（完）
