中国地震台网正式测定：6月8日7时37分在菲律宾群岛地区（北纬5.55度，东经125.10度）发生7.9级地震，震源深度40千米。
此前据美国太平洋海啸预警中心消息，菲律宾棉兰老岛附近8日发生的8.2级地震或引发海啸。
