The Late Sunshine

Deep in my home I overlook the double wall;

Spring gone, yet summer’s clarity has it all.

Heaven pities the tender grass left in theshade;

The world loves most the evening sun newlydisplayed.

It adds more loftiness to my high tower’s height,

After the southern birds’ nest is dried in the sun,

They fly back home more lightly when theirjourney’s done.
