藏羚羊是国家一级保护动物，生活在藏北羌塘高原、青海可可西里和新疆阿尔金山区域海拔3700-5500米的高山草原、草甸和高寒荒漠地带，空气稀薄、气候条件恶劣。目前，藏羚羊种群仅在西藏境内就已增长到30多万只，保护等级也已从“濒危”转到“近危”，距“无危”已不远。
