4月23日获悉， 西海岸新区六中拟扩建，扩建新区六中一期项目由青岛西海岸新区教育和体育局建设，总投资1.1亿，总规模扩建至120班，可容纳6000人。在操场南侧新建5层教学楼等，建筑面积约10000平方米；同步改造现有教学楼、管线、运动场地等。
