据中国地震台网正式测定，4月21日11时17分在帝汶岛附近海域发生5.6级地震，震源深度80公里，震中位于南纬9.25度，东经124.20度。
震中200公里范围内有2座大中城市，最近为古邦（Kupang），距震中约124公里。震中5公里范围内平均海拔约110米。
