嘉能可4月10日宣布收购位于美国南卡罗来纳州查尔斯顿附近一家回收重熔厂45%的股份。此前，嘉能可曾为该厂提供资金，以换取市场推广权，剩余55%的股份将由Alumicore持有，该公司也将负责该厂的运营。嘉能可已通过持有美国最大的原铝生产商世纪铝业30%的股份，成为该行业的主要投资者。
