据江苏省人民政府网站 4月1日，江苏省政府网站发布《省政府关于淮阴工学院更名为淮安大学的通知》，通知显示：经研究并报教育部同意，淮阴工学院更名为淮安大学，原淮阴工学院建制撤销。淮安大学为省属公办普通本科学校，以本科教育为主，同时开展研究生教育。
