这地方在苏州古城区绝对核心位置，始建于清同治十二年（1873），为江苏布政使史致谔（史伟堂）所建，称“半园”（俗称南半园），取“知足不求全”之意；俞樾曾作《半园记》。
21年重新改建，在苏州市中心这样一个地方非常难得，下回外地的朋友过来就有地方去了。
