据路透社3月6日报道，印度政府已启动紧急权力，指示炼油厂最大化液化石油气（LPG）产量，以防止中东危机导致的供应中断后出现烹饪燃料短缺。去年，作为全球第二大LPG进口国的印度消耗了约3315万吨烹饪气体，进口占LPG消费量的约三分之二，其中中东供应占85—90%。
政府要求所有炼油厂“最大化并确保他们手中的丙烷和丁烷用于生产LPG”。政府还要求生产商向国有企业——印度石油公司（Indian Oil Corp）、印度斯坦石油公司（Hindustan Petroleum Corp）和巴拉特石油公司（Bharat Petroleum Corp）提供LPG、丙烷和丁烷，以便分发给家庭。数据显示，印度约有3.32亿活跃的LPG消费者。
