番禺区的“北大门”洛浦街紧邻广州市中心城区，地理位置优越，但长期缺少区级发展平台覆盖，辖内的南浦甚至被称为“番薯岛”。
洛浦街前负责人曾表示，洛浦空置土地超千亩，却放任“种番薯”。洛浦作为番禺北大门，有成为“西伯利亚”的趋势。
