美国聚变能源初创公司Helion宣布，其第七代原型机Polaris已将等离子体加热至1.5亿摄氏度，达到商业聚变发电所需温度门槛的约四分之三；该进展为其2028年向微软供应聚变电力的目标提供关键技术验证。作为背景，Helion曾于2023年与微软签订协议，约定于2028年通过其首座50兆瓦聚变发电厂Orion向科技巨头提供电力。而多数聚变公司的商业化时间表都在2030年以后。
