Chinese railway ticketing platform 12306 has introduced a new pop-up alert for certain first-class seats following months of passenger complaints over an awkward seating arrangement referred to online as the "inferior first-class seat".
A recent social media post showed that when attempting to book a first-class ticket, the 12306 app displayed a notice: "The seat you have selected is a first-class seat located in the rear section of a business-class cabin. The seatback cannot be reclined, and there is no center armrest between the two seats." The message advised users to cancel and reselect if they were dissatisfied with the arrangement.

2月12日,12306客服表示,因为有部分一等座座位是位于商务座舱后的,该位置比较特殊,所以增加了提醒。若旅客看到提示,并介意购买此位置,可以取消订单后重新购买。
In response to inquiries, a customer service representative from 12306 said the reminder was introduced due to the special positioning of such seats, which are physically located within business-class compartments but do not offer the same features. Passengers concerned about the configuration may choose to cancel and rebook.
此前,有关“低人一等座”的讨论,曾冲上微博热搜。
2025年,多位网友在社交平台发文称,购买了高铁一等座车票后发现座位被安排到了商务舱车厢内,本来以为捡到便宜,结果发现座椅和商务舱内的其他座椅明显不同,有些尴尬。

此外,实际坐感也很不好,不仅中间没有扶手,靠背也无法调节。于是不少网友将这些座位戏称为“低人一等座”。
The issue first gained traction last year when multiple travelers reported being assigned first-class tickets only to find themselves seated in business-class cabins, and in visibly different seats that lacked adjustable backs and center armrests. 2025年8月,12306客服人员表示,出现这一情况是由于部分列车编组时会有“混座”情况,即商务座与一等座混合在同一车厢内。客服人员解释,部分列车在编组时可能额定不能设置这么多商务座,所以就出现了“混编”情况。
对于这一说法,有媒体曾评论称:若无法避免“混座”,应提前在售票系统中明确提示,给予消费者知情权与选择权。对于已购票却遭遇此类问题的乘客,应提供更完善的解决方案,如及时调换座位、给予一定补偿等......从“走得了”到“走得好”,中国高铁用二十年时间完成了从速度到质量的跨越。站在消费升级的新起点,乘客的诉求应该成为推动服务精进的动力。
