On January 12, the Press Conference on "Achievements of Guangdong's 14th Five-Year Plan – Zhaoqing Session" was held in Guangzhou, outlining the overall achievements of Zhaoqing's economic and social development during China's 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Zhaoqing has made major strides in cultivating new drivers of industrial growth and deepening its integration into the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. Notably, emerging industries have gained strong traction, particularly the rapid rise of the new energy vehicle sector. More than 100 auto parts enterprises above the designated size in Zhaoqing have deeply integrated into China's new energy vehicle supply chain.
Xu Xiaoxiong, Mayor of Zhaoqing, stated that during China's 14th Five-Year Plan period, Zhaoqing has precisely aligned itself with the needs of advancing new quality productive forces. Amid the surge in the "new three" sectors, the city has captured growth momentum in new energy vehicles and new-type energy storage, building two 100-billion-yuan–level industries clusters in new energy vehicles and metal processing, and four 50-billion-yuan–level industrial clusters in new-type energy storage, electronic information, green building materials, and new materials, achieving a strategic reshaping of the city's industrial landscape. At the Zhaoqing facility of XPeng Motors, cumulative vehicle output has exceeded 500,000 units, equivalent to one car rolling off the production line every six minutes.
