暖宝宝发热主要靠的是内部的铁粉与空气中的氧气发生氧化反应，释放热量，这个反应能够产生60℃左右的温度。暖宝宝里的盐、蛭石、活性炭等成分，能让这个反应以合适的速率进行，保持几个小时到十几个小时的持续发热。虽然60℃的温度不算特别高，但有可能会造成低温烫伤。
