北京时间12月2日，在斯洛特确认萨拉赫将在12月15日离队参加非洲杯之后，来自英媒节目Match of the Day的报道指出，萨拉赫可能会缺席利物浦多达7场比赛。
本届非洲杯将在2025年12月21日至2026年1月18日在摩洛哥举行，埃及的首场比赛将是北京时间12月23日1时对阵津巴布韦。
对此Match of the Day指出，如果埃及杀进了本届非洲杯的决赛，那么萨拉赫最多将会缺席利物浦在英超联赛中对阵热刺、狼队、利兹联、富勒姆、阿森纳以及伯恩利的6场比赛，此外还有一场未确认赛程的足总杯。
