Future Earth Coasts (FEC) and C-BLUES/BLUE-C are pleased to announce the establishment of a partnership to strengthen global cooperation in advancing understanding of Blue Carbon Ecosystems (BCEs) and promoting their inclusion in climate change mitigation.

未来地球海岸与C-BLUES/BLUE-C正式宣布建立合作伙伴关系，将加强全球协作，深化对蓝碳生态系统（BCEs）的认识，并推动其纳入气候变化减缓行动。

C-BLUES and BLUE-C are the joint proposals under the EU-China International cooperation on blue carbon. The two projects work on advancing our knowledge and understanding of carbon stocks, sequestration, and drivers of greenhouse gas fluxes in coastal wetlands to facilitate and promote scientific reporting of inventories from managed blue carbon ecosystems under the IPCC Wetlands guidelines. The results will provide scientific support for EU and China governments to include blue carbon as natural climate solutions, obtaining international cutting-edge cognitions of the impacts of restoration projects on carbon fluxes.

C-BLUES与BLUE-C是中欧蓝碳国际合作框架下的联合项目。这两个项目致力于推进对滨海湿地碳储量、碳封存能力及温室气体通量驱动机制的研究，旨在依据联合国政府间气候变化专门委员会发布的《2006年IPCC国家温室气体清单指南2013年增补：湿地》，推动和规范“受管护蓝碳生态系统”清单的科学核算与报告工作。研究成果将为中欧双方将蓝碳纳入自然气候解决方案提供科学支撑，并在生态修复项目对碳通量影响方面形成国际前沿认知。

Future Earth Coasts, a Global Research Network of Future Earth, works to support transformation toward a sustainable, just, and resilient future for coasts and coastal communities through innovative, integrated, and collaborative research. Building on more than 40 years of international coastal research, FEC continues to provide a platform for connecting scientists, practitioners, and policymakers to co-develop actionable solutions for coastal sustainability.

未来地球海岸是国际大科学计划未来地球旗下的全球研究网络，致力于通过创新、综合与协同的研究，推动海岸与沿海社区迈向可持续、公正且具有韧性的未来。依托四十余年的国际海岸研究积淀，FEC持续构建平台，连接科学家、实践者与政策制定者，共同开发可实施的海岸可持续解决方案。

Through this partnership, FEC and C-BLUES/BLUE-C will foster stronger links between science, policy, and practice to ensure that blue carbon ecosystems receive the recognition and protection they deserve, contributing to global climate resilience and sustainable coastal futures. FEC and C-BLUES/BLUE-C will soon launch a webinar series on Innovation and Technology Transfer under the Future Earth Cross-cutting Initiative “Building Future Leadership.” Stay tuned for more details.

About C-BLUES

C-BLUES seeks to enhance knowledge and understanding of Blue Carbon Ecosystems (BCEs), including emerging BCEs like natural and farmed kelp systems, and increase BCE inclusion in national greenhouse gas inventories and reporting under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

C-BLUES is a Horizon Europe Framework project funded under the Joint EU-China Flagship Initiative on Climate Change & Biodiversity, call for EU-China international cooperation on blue carbon (HORIZON-CL5-2023-D1-02).

The project runs from 1 April 2024 - 31 March 2028.

C-BLUES项目致力于深化对蓝碳生态系统（BCEs）的认知与理解，其中涵盖天然及养殖海藻系统等新兴蓝碳生态系统，并推动蓝碳生态系统更广泛地纳入国家温室气体清单及《联合国气候变化框架公约》的履约报告体系。

C-BLUES是"欧洲地平线"框架计划下的重点科研项目，由欧盟-中国气候变化与生物多样性旗舰倡议联合资助，隶属于欧中蓝碳国际合作专项（项目编号：HORIZON-CL5-2023-D1-02）。

该项目执行期为2024年4月1日至2028年3月31日。
