She believes that individual differences are an enduring challenge in basic education, as every student possesses unique personality traits and abilities. Personalized education first requires teachers to understand each child, tailoring their approach to each student's psychological and character traits to maximize their learning potential. For academically strong and gifted students, I encourage them to engage in dialectical independent thinking and deep exploration of knowledge. For students with average abilities, I aim to foster greater motivation, helping them discover joy in learning and develop a love for it.

丨Reflections on Education in the AI Era丨
Part 4.
We must cultivate people who think
“ AI has a tremendous impact on education. It can accelerate our lesson preparation and assist us in quickly searching for and organizing vast amounts of knowledge. In the classroom, we increasingly use it as a partner for thinking—we pose questions, AI provides answers, and we evaluate whether AI's responses are accurate. I firmly believe AI is a tool for humans. In the AI era, it is more crucial than ever to teach students how to think.

In the future society, our concern isn't that AI will think like humans, but that humans will increasingly think like AI, losing their capacity for creativity and critical thinking. In her classroom, AI serves merely as a “thinking partner,” while students remain the masters of their own thought processes.
Beyond the Classroom: Reader, Film Enthusiast, and Above All, a “Soul Shaper”
Part 5.
Outside of work, Fiona Qin's greatest passions are reading and watching films, particularly science popularization books, cutting-edge technological developments, and natural science documentaries. She holds Sir David Attenborough of the BBC in especially high regard, believing his love for natural science and contributions to conservation make him the finest role model for guiding students.

Movies often bring her profound emotional insights. She mentioned Soul—“I’ve watched it over a dozen times, and it moved me deeply. I realized how crucial it is for the soul to discover what truly ignites one’s passion.” In her view, the teaching profession is precisely like the “soul sculptor” depicted in the film.
![]()
The Movie “Soul”
She said, “We guide students to experience and explore this unknown world, igniting their spark so they can freely explore their own worlds. This spark may be art, science, or sports, but sometimes it's simply the joy of food or the changing seasons—like a single withered leaf drifting down from the sky as summer turns to autumn.”

Student Evaluations
The prerequisite for achieving anything in life is to love life and understand its meaning. Students may not necessarily choose biology as their major in the future, nor pursue careers related to biology. But as a teacher, before fostering their love for learning and helping them acquire knowledge, I believe the most important thing is to cultivate their love for life—to help them appreciate the beauty of nature and the wonder of life itself.
— Fiona Qin
丨Conclusion丨
Part 6.
Education is a beautiful encounter
At Farragut, Fiona Qin found the educational environment she had always envisioned—one that is free, diverse, and deeply caring. She has become a companion and guide for students as they encounter science, discover beauty, and explore the world. She hopes her students gain far more than acceptance letters from prestigious universities; she wants them to cultivate a lifelong passion for life itself. Here, with her expertise and dedication, she plants the seeds of science in every student's heart, patiently waiting for them to blossom.
