北京时间10月15日，美国男篮发布官方公告，宣布热火主帅斯波尔斯特拉接任科尔，成为美国队主教练。
官方表示，双方签约至2028年，这也意味着斯波将执教美国队参加2027年世界杯与2028年洛杉矶奥运会。
