2019年，女作家卡罗尔指控特朗普上世纪90年代对其实施性侵，特朗普否认并公开称其指控为“骗局”，引发诽谤诉讼。2024年1月，纽约联邦陪审团就该案做出判决，裁定特朗普向卡罗尔支付8330万美元的赔偿金。当年3月，特朗普对这一巨额赔偿裁决提起上诉，如今美国上诉法院维持了原判。
