China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on September 9 that the nation's new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales remained the world's highest for the tenth consecutive year in 2024, exceeding 13 million units.
The ministry highlighted the achievement at a State Council press conference on progress under the 14th Five-Year Plan, which runs through 2025.
It also noted that from 2020 to 2024, value-added output in equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing grew an average of 7.9% and 8.7% annually, raising their share of large-scale industry to 34.6% and 16.3%. China's shipbuilding sector also retained its global lead.
