IT之家 8 月 29 日消息，消息博主 @数码闲聊站 稍早前表示高通即将在下月发布的新一代旗舰移动平台芯片 SM8850 暂定命名为骁龙 8 Elite Gen 5。
尽管高通去年为 SM8750 芯片选定的名称是骁龙 8 Elite 而非 8 Gen 4，但在其它移动平台上 "Gen X" 式命名仍在延续，诞生了 8s Gen 4 等一系列产品。将 SM8850“拉回”传统命名体系有利于维持整体命名格式统一。
结合该博主表示 SM8845 的命名可能是骁龙 8 Gen 5，这意味着高通未来或将“骁龙 8”系列切为 "8 Elite" "8" "8s" 三个分支。
