Swiss watchmaker Swatch apologized on Saturday for promotional image featuring "slanted eyes" — a gesture widely regarded as offensive to Asians.

致歉声明称,公司注意到近期对于Swatch ESSENTIALS系列图片中模特形象的关注。公司对此事高度重视,并已第一时间在全球范围内删除所有相关资料。对于由此造成的冒犯和困扰,深表歉意。
"We have taken note of the recent concerns regarding the portrayal of a model in images for the Swatch ESSENTIALS Collection.
We treat this matter with the utmost importance and have immediately removed all related materials worldwide.
We sincerely apologize for any distress or misunderstanding this may have caused, the Swiss watchmaker said."
近日,瑞士手表品牌斯沃琪因一张“眯眯眼”宣传图引发争议。
照片中,模特摆出“眯眯眼”造型,这一动作被认为具有种族歧视意味。对此,不少中国消费者表示强烈抗议。
Swatch has come under fire for a promotional image featuring "slanted eyes". The photo depicted a male model making an exaggerated "slanted eyes" expression, a racial stereotype considered derogatory toward East Asians.
Many Chinese netizens and bloggers have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the alleged Swatch's recent advertising image, questioning how a photo considered discriminatory against Asians passed the company's review process and was published.

目前,Swatch中国官网已经找不到相关照片。
事实上,诸如向上拉眼角等故意形成“眯眯眼”“吊眼梢”式表情效果,已是国际上公认的对华人乃至亚裔的歧视动作。这一符号起源于19世纪欧美种族主义者对东亚人的刻板印象构建,通过“傅满洲”等形象广泛传播。
此前因推出“眯眯眼”形象,已有多家欧美及国内知名品牌或机构陷入舆论争议。
此次推出“眯眯眼”广告的Swatch集团是全球最大的钟表制造和分销集团之一,除了基础款斯沃琪,旗下手表还包括浪琴、天梭、欧米茄、宝玑等知名品牌。
Swatch Group, the company behind the controversial ad, is one of the world's largest watch manufacturers and distributors. In addition to its basic Swatch line, the group owns well-known brands such as Longines, Tissot, Omega, and Breguet.
