越野能力方面，昆仑巅峰版比普通版提升了30mm的最小离地间隙，接近角23°，离去角24°，配合适时四驱系统和后桥限滑差速器，应付一般的非铺装路面没问题。但真要拿去重度越野的话，还是不如普拉多这种硬派SUV，毕竟探险者用的是承载式车身，悬挂行程也有限。不过对于大多数用户来说，这样的越野能力已经足够了，毕竟没人会天天开着它去爬石头。
