Cooperation and Development in a Changing International Order
Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), Lima
December 4-5,2025
About the Conference
As global power structures undergo profound transformation, academic cooperation is called to play a more critical role in interpreting change, shaping responses, and advancing shared knowledge. Today’s shifting geopolitical and economic landscape challenges traditional models of development and governance, while also opening space for advancing new “state development impetus” as an analytical framework to better understand state trajectories and inform governance approaches, and for fostering new forms of collaboration rooted in sustainability, innovation, and mutual understanding.
Latin America and China, with distinct historical experiences and institutional strengths, are increasingly connected through multidimensional academic engagement. In fields as diverse as economic restructuring, digital transformation, environmental governance, and cultural exchange, scholars are well positioned to contribute rigorous, context-sensitive insights that inform policy and enrich public debate.
The 2025 Annual Meeting of the Fudan–Latin America University Consortium (FLAUC), hosted by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), invites academics from across both regions to reflect on the theme “Cooperation and Sustainable Development amid Shifting Global Power Dynamics.” The meeting offers a space to engage critically with current global challenges and to strengthen the role of academic dialogue in building more inclusive, resilient, and forward-looking frameworks of cooperation.
