1950年7月24日，一个不平凡的日子，上海市第一届文学艺术工作者代表大会召开。会上，在夏衍、巴金、于伶、贺绿汀、冯雪峰、梅兰芳、周信芳等7位文艺家的共同倡议下，一个团结上海文艺家的组织，一个属于文艺家的家一一上海市文学艺术界联合会成立了。
