7月18日，商务部部长王文涛在国新办新闻发布会上表示，我国社会消费品零售总额从2020年的39.1万亿元提升至2024年的48.3万亿元，年均增长5.5%。与美国对比，从绝对值看，去年我国社零总额相当于美国的80%左右，从实际购买力看，按照世界银行给出的数据和算法，相当于美国的1.6倍。
