In response to U.S.'s announcement of a ceasefire plan between Israel and Iran, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that China is watching closely the developments in the Middle East. China does not want to see the spiraling up of tensions, and hopes that a ceasefire can be realized as early as possible.

Besides, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel has agreed to U.S. President Donald Trump's ceasefire proposal in a statement on Tuesday morning.
Guo noted at a regular press conference that facts have proven that military means cannot bring peace, and the right way of solving issues is dialogue and negotiation. China calls on parties concerned to return to the right track of political settlement at an early date.
"We stand ready to work with the international community and make effort for peace and stability in the Middle East," Guo said. (By Ma Ziqian/China Youth Daily)
