联邦快递6月22日宣布，公司创始人、执行董事长、长期担任董事长兼CEO的弗雷德里克·华莱士·史密斯于6月21日在田纳西州孟菲斯因自然原因去世，享年80岁。
声明称，史密斯于1973年创立联邦快递，当时该公司拥有14架达索猎鹰20型喷气式飞机组成的机队。如今联邦快递已发展为在全球拥有超50万名团队成员、连接超220个国家和地区、每年运输近2万亿美元货物的快递运输巨头。
