HPV有200多个型别，临床上根据HPV的致癌性，将其分为低危型和高危型两种。一些低危型的HPV会引起生殖器疣，比如街头小广告经常提到的尖锐湿疣。高危型HPV则和癌症的发生有关，其中最常见的是16和18型，其次还有31、33、45、52和58型等。
