奥尼尔表示：“我认为我们那一届选秀是历史最好的一届，整体来说是这样的。马布里、安托万-沃克、雷-阿伦、佩贾、纳什、AI、坎比、洛伦岑-赖特，那一届太有深度了。”
1996年NBA选秀，杰梅因-奥尼尔在第17顺位被开拓者选中。
