The Hong Kong Immigration Department estimates that there will be around 8.67 million inbound and outbound from January 28 to February 4, of which 7.34 million are expected to pass through land control points.
The peak days for inbound and outbound passengers using land boundary control points will be January 31 and February 2, with around 567,000 and 640,000 passengers, respectively.
In terms of the mainland inbound visitors, around 1.43 million passengers are expected to visit Hong Kong during the 8-day holiday. Compared with last year's National Day holiday and Spring Festival holiday, the average daily visitor arrivals will increase by 3% and 14% respectively. The Travel Industry Authority and the industry estimate that 2,000 inbound tour groups will visit Hong Kong during the holiday, a significant increase over last year's National Day holiday. Special arrangements have been made at major tourist spots to cope with the increased crowds. (By Jia Zifan/China Youth Daily)
