米奇-约翰逊表示：“我经常和他保持联系，他一直在看比赛，仍然像以前一样顽固，像你想象的那样有竞争力，他有时候会一边表扬我，一边骂我。”
波波维奇现年75岁，他在去年11月3日对阵森林狼的比赛之前遭遇轻微中风，之后球队比赛一直由助教米奇-约翰逊临场指挥。
