斯里兰卡总统府1月16日发布声明称，当日上午，斯里兰卡能源部与中国石油化工集团签署37亿美元投资协议，为该国史上规模最大的一笔外国直接投资。
根据协议，中石化将在斯里兰卡汉班托塔地区建造一座日产能20万桶的先进炼油厂，大部分产量计划用于出口。声明称，这笔巨额投资预计将促进斯里兰卡经济增长，同时改善汉班托塔地区低收入社区的生计。
