韩国公调处当地时间1月15日表示，当天上午10时33分，对韩国总统尹锡悦执行了逮捕令。这是韩国史上首次对现任总统执行逮捕令。作为回应，尹锡悦当天通过总统办公室公开了事先录制的视频讲话。尹锡悦表示，为避免不光彩的流血事件，决定出席公调处的调查。
