In the Encarnação neighborhood of Lisbon, Portugal, there is a house called Casa do Poço. It carries the memory of history, but has been given new life and vitality through the careful renovation of [i] Da Arquitectos.

在葡萄牙里斯本的恩卡纳桑（Encarnação）街区，坐落着一座名为 Casa do Poço 的住宅，它承载着历史的记忆，在 [i] Da Arquitectos 建筑事务所的精心改造下，焕发出新的生机与活力。

This semi-detached house is located on the main street of a neighborhood designed between 1940 and 1946 by architect Paulino Montez to address the city’s housing shortage. The neighborhood’s architecture is simple and functional, and Casa do Poço is no exception, retaining many of its original architectural elements, such as a simple facade with few windows, low-profile stonework and a prominent chimney, giving the building a quaint and timeless feel. The hipped roof shared with the neighboring houses adds to the overall harmony and cohesion. The courtyard at the back of the house is partially shaded by fruit trees, adding a touch of comfort to the outdoor space. However, the building had its share of problems, with a ground-floor extension and a series of dilapidated outbuildings at the rear somewhat detracting from its original appearance and overall beauty.

这座半独立式住宅位于街区的主要街道上，其所在街区由建筑师保利诺?蒙特斯（Paulino Montez）于 1940 年至 1946 年间设计，旨在解决城市住房短缺问题。街区建筑风格简约实用，Casa do Poço 也不例外，它保留了诸多原始建筑元素，如立面简洁，开窗较少，低调的石砌工艺以及显眼的烟囱，赋予建筑一种古朴而永恒的韵味。与相邻房屋共享的四面坡屋顶更是增强了整体的和谐与凝聚力。屋后的庭院部分被果树遮蔽，为户外空间增添了一抹惬意。然而，建筑也曾面临一些问题，地面层的扩建部分和后部一系列破旧的附属建筑在一定程度上影响了其原始风貌与整体美感。

The house had been vacant for a long time and was in poor condition. It was laid out longitudinally and had a small space, with a small living room and entrance hall, a kitchen and a bedroom on the first floor, and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. Structurally, the floor and roof were supported by wooden beams, and the stone walls provided stability for the house. The nearly 5-meter-high retaining wall on the southwest side of the courtyard was particularly eye-catching and became a key element in the renovation project.

住宅空置已久，内部状况不佳。其纵向布局，空间较为狭小，一层设有小客厅兼入口门厅、厨房和一间卧室，二层则有两间卧室和一间浴室。建筑结构上，地板和屋顶由木梁支撑，石砌墙体为房屋提供了稳固性。庭院西南侧近 5 米高的挡土墙尤为引人注目，它成为了改造项目中的关键元素。

The renovation project aims to improve living comfort, health and lighting conditions, while complying with current regulations. The building was rebuilt and extended while preserving the original features of the main facade, such as the roof shape, height, threshold height and stonework. The extension has a flat roof flush with the existing eaves, clearly distinguishing the new and old parts, highlighting the contemporary architectural style. After the demolition of the dilapidated outbuildings, the retaining wall in the courtyard became the core element, enclosing a private garden and ensuring absolute privacy, while creating the conditions for a more transparent rear facade, in sharp contrast to the stone walls of the main facade.

改造方案以提升居住舒适度、改善健康与采光条件为目标，同时遵循现行法规要求。在保留主立面原有特色元素（如屋顶形状、高度、门槛高度和石砌工艺）的前提下，对建筑进行了重建与扩建。扩建部分采用与现有屋檐齐平的平屋顶设计，清晰区分了新旧部分，彰显当代建筑风格。拆除破旧附属建筑后，庭院中的挡土墙成为核心元素，它围合出私密花园，保证了绝对隐私，同时为打造更通透的后立面创造了条件，与主立面的石砌墙体形成鲜明对比。

The interior space was reorganized to maximize natural light and create a smooth visual connection from the street to the garden. A new outbuilding in the courtyard replaced the original structure and contains multifunctional spaces, pergolas, and storage areas, which perfectly integrates with the garden and enhances the functionality of the outdoor space.

室内空间经过重新布局，最大限度地引入自然光线，实现了从街道到花园的内外视觉流畅衔接。庭院中新建的附属建筑取代了原有结构，包含多功能空间、凉棚和储物区，与花园完美融合，提升了户外空间的功能性。

In terms of decoration, from kitchen faucets and sinks (Franke Home Solutions brand) to bathroom facilities (Bruma bathroom faucets, OLI toilet flushing system), to blinds (Banema brand), video intercoms (Fermax Electrónica S.A.U brand), switches and sockets (EFAPEL brand) and other details, all high-quality products are selected to improve living convenience while ensuring a sense of quality.

在装饰装修方面，从厨房水龙头和水槽（Franke Home Solutions 品牌）到卫浴设施（Bruma 卫浴龙头、OLI 马桶冲水系统），再到百叶窗（Banema 品牌）、可视对讲机（Fermax Electrónica S.A.U 品牌）、开关插座（EFAPEL 品牌）等细节，均选用优质产品，在提升居住便利性的同时确保了品质感。

The renovation of Casa do Poço successfully achieved a harmonious coexistence of tradition and modernity, preserving the charm of historical buildings while meeting the needs of modern life, becoming an excellent example of residential renovation in Lisbon.

Casa do Poço 的改造成功实现了传统与现代的和谐共生，既保留了历史建筑的韵味，又满足了现代生活的需求，成为里斯本住宅改造的优秀范例。
