当地时间12月22日，越南胡志明市地铁1号线正式投运，这也是该国第一条地铁线路。
该项目自2012年开始动工建设，总投资超过43.7万亿越南盾（约合125亿元人民币），其中由日本国际协力机构（JICA）提供的官方发展援助约38.2万亿越盾。该线路包括11个高架车站和3个地下车站。
地铁列车由日本日立制作所的笠户事业所制造。住友商事、清水建设等日企也参与了该项目。
