This facility marks the start of track construction for the 575km heavy haul railway that will link the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine in Tindouf to the province of Bechar.
According to Dong Lin, general manager of CRCC's North Africa branch, the sleeper factory is the first standardized concrete railway sleeper factory set up by a Chinese company in the region. In its production process, CRCC has implemented special sleeper designs aimed at improving track stability, increasing durability and reducing maintenance cost.
At the inauguration ceremony, Tindouf Governor Mustapha Dahou expressed his appreciation for the efforts of CRCC and the cooperation of its local partners, highlighting their significant contributions to the project.
For his part, Xu Huaxiang, General Manager of CRCC International Group, reaffirmed CRCC's commitment to ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of the project, which he described as "a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Algeria".
