China will continue to build the China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said at a press conference on October 31.

A MOFCOM's spokesperson said that the FTZ is the first pilot free trade zone in China's northwest border regions, with Urumqi, Kashgar and Horgos involved. Since its establishment in 2023, it has been effectively facilitating agricultural trades at the border ports of China-Kazakhstan, China-Tajikistan and China-Kyrgyzstan. It has also seen the completion and operation of the China Railway Express Center's expansion project in Xinjiang, where the China-Europe freight trains gather to complete the necessary proceedings to further go westward.
In the future, China will continue to implement the FTZ upgrade strategy and promote high-standard international and industrial exchanges. At the same time, more efforts will be made to strengthen the cooperation between the FTZ and the central and eastern regions of China. (By Li Zi'ang/China Youth Daily)
