此前据Stein报道，墨菲和鹈鹕达成的是一份4年1.12亿美元的提前续约合同，不含激励条款或球员选项。
上赛季，墨菲代表鹈鹕出战57场常规赛，场均贡献14.8分4.9篮板2.2助攻，投篮命中率44.3%，三分命中率38%，罚球命中率81.5%。
