在宣布退出瑞士国家队后，索默在个人社交媒体上发布了视频告别。
索默写道：“亲爱的瑞士足球界， 经过深思熟虑，我决定结束作瑞士国家队守门员的职业生涯，能够在12年期间参加94场国际比赛，为我的国家效力，这对我来说是极大的荣誉和特权。”
索默曾代表瑞士参加过2014、2018与2022三届世界杯，同时也参加过2016、2020与2024三届欧洲杯。索默代表瑞士国家队出场过94次，共计丢92球，完成35次零封。
