8月2日，2名中国公民在菲律宾被绑架。中国驻菲律宾使馆高度重视，迅速多方联系菲执法部门开展营救。8月3日，中国驻菲律宾使馆配合菲律宾国家警察反绑架局成功解救2名被绑架中国公民。2名中国公民获救后身体状况良好。行动中，一名菲律宾国家警察不幸牺牲，另一名受重伤。
中国驻菲律宾使馆向不幸牺牲的菲律宾国家警察表示沉痛哀悼和崇高敬意，向其家人及受伤的警察致以诚挚慰问，向菲律宾国家警察成功解救中国公民的行动表示衷心感谢！
