IT之家 7 月 23 日消息，Mozilla 公司 Thunderbird 团队时隔 24 年，终于为使用 GNOME 和 KDE 桌面环境的 Linux 用户，带来了系统托盘邮件通知功能。
这项提案最早可以追溯到 1999 年 11 月 12 日星期五，Mozilla 公司于昨日（7 月 22 日）星期一终于关闭了该提案，表示今后使用 GNOME 和 KDE 桌面环境的 Linux 用户会看到 Thunderbird 新邮件的系统托盘通知。

该修复程序由 Mozilla Thunderbird 软件工程师 Heather Ellsworth 和 Ikey Doherty 开发。
Doherty 在补丁细节中说，系统托盘图标很难支持 x86（32 位）版本，因此目前需要 64 位版本的 Thunderbird。
