明天启五年(1625)，邑人彭汝楠辞官归里，在莆田柳桥隐居，建了被称为十六世纪江南著名园林的“岸圃大观”。当时书画家董其昌书“岸圃大观”字，画有“岸圃大观”。此画被分为若干幅，每幅附有彭汝楠亲笔题跋并印成拓本。
