狄仁杰生前最高官职为正三品，官至代理尚书事务、同凤阁鸾台平章事（正三品、宰相） ，內史（即中书令，正三品）。
死后，先后被武则天、唐中宗、唐睿宗、后晋时期追授从二品、正一品、从一品、正一品。
