这片水域，位于辉县市洪州乡茅草庄村，水面清澈，风景秀丽，被游客称为“辉县的马尔代夫”。据了解，这片水域是辉县市南水北调中线洪洲湖调蓄工程的一处选址，2020年发布工程勘察设计和项目规划。
“洪洲湖”调蓄工程完工后，将形成大约1.1万亩人工湖面，对于水量合理分配，提高用水效率，发展乡村旅游服务业、改善当地生态环境等方面，都将起到积极的作用。
