Man and wife ≠ 男人和妻子
我们先来看个经典场景：
在西方国家，年轻人在教堂举行婚礼。男女宣誓后，牧师会说：
I now pronounce youman and wife.
我现在宣布你俩结为夫妻。
所以，“Man and wife”的意思是指：夫妻。
（这个说法源于17世纪，诺曼底人征服英格兰后，婚礼就惯用了这个说法。而当时的“husband"表示"耕田或做生意的男人”。现仍保有“节俭”的意味。）

lawful wife 正妻，原配夫人
